Fastest 360 pre-ordered title in history
Microsoft and Epic have to be very excited about the release of Gears of War 3 later this year now that they have word that the title has set the record as the fastest Xbox 360 pre-ordered title in history. Pre-orders for the title have already broken 1 million and the company believes that more will continue to order, particularly after those participating in the beta start telling their friends that didn’t do so.

Reports confirm that over 1.29 million players from 145 different countries played the multiplayer beta which provided Epic with valuable feedback to be incorporated into Gears 3 prior to release. During the beta, over 11 million matches were played, which is an incredible number.

Only 234,000 players were able to get the Gold Retro Lancer which will be able to be used in the release version of Gears of War 3 when it arrives worldwide on September 20th.

I couldn't finish the first Gear of Wars. I got bored with it half-away through.

Those are huge numbers, good job M$/Epic! Gears has 1 million pre-orders already and is schedualed for a fall release? That flies directly in the face of EA/DICE who claim that Battlefield 3 will be #1. Then there is MW3. I've said it before and I'll say it again...it Won't!!

Gears of war 1 and 2 were epic, Gears of war 3 deserves high sales, easily one of the best gaming franchises. When Gears of war 1 was released it was in a different league to any other game around in graphics and gameplay..

@Blacky I guess if you got bored during Gears of war, than your more into Mario or Sonic type games?

It's a bit surprising that Gears of War 3 would beat even Halo Reach, I'm not a particular fan of Halo, but everybody else who owns a Xbox360 seems to be. but from my perspective it makes sense as I like the story, graphics and gameplay a lot more than most other Xbox games.

Don't be too sure about that, EA/Dice's Frostbite engine looks like it could really provide some great graphics, and although graphics aren't everything that will provide much better marketing than: Here's yet another COD:MW game. I like the MW series, but it's becoming the same again and again, the story for MW3 seems to be the same as in MW2.

This seems like '97 all over again with Crysis relying on graphics to win the day but got gang raped by Halo and COD! It'll happen again. The majority of PC gamers don't buy games and BF3 will be pirated to death. Console gamers will have many strong choices that will eat into BF3 sales. It will do ok, but will it obliterate all comers? Nope!!
