Trinity yields are good

Written by Fuad Abazovic

On schedule for Q1 2012 launch

Sources close to AMD have revealed that Trinity, the next generation of Fusion APU, is looking good.

Llano suffered from poor yields but it looks like Trinity has much better yields than its predecessor. We have already reported about the fact that CPU gets slightly faster than on Llano parts, but the graphics part ends up significantly faster.

Trinity should launch in Q1 2012 and hopefully nudge AMD off to a good start in what is expected to be a very challenging year spiced up with a lot of changes in the CPU market. We are still asking around, but all we are currently hearing is that 28nm Krishna and Wichita are most likely cancelled and that there won’t be any 28nm replacement.

Trinity is based on Piledriver, an enhanced Bulldozer core, but as you’ve probably seen by now, the desktop Bulldozer versions are not as fast as many have hoped for. However, Trinity is not aimed at the high end anyway, so the Piledriver core should suffice.

Trinity will probably do quite well in many desktop and notebook environments as it will be pretty affordable and it will offer good performance for the price.

AMD needed this APU last year. Then they would have had a better chance at keeping that Apple contract.

Well,of course, whats left for amd fagboys - only wet dreams..
First was Rambus memory - no its gone, then fake "benches" for 7970 - no its confirmed its fake..Well,not that its first time amd doing fake benches huh? Might remind you how amd showed $hitdozzer "benches" :D Just forgot include they lder cpus in that "bench",where they spanking they "new" $hitdozzer :D
what a sad "company" amd is with all they promises and they inbreds fagboys :D

No way would they have kept that apple contract. Their CPU's are slow compared to Intel. Yes graphically they are better, but apple wouldn't have wanted such a slow product in their pc's.

Nonesense, it wasn't ready last year and it wasn't ready when it got released. Hopefully Piledriver fixes this the right way. And rumours have already stated that Piledriver will get a big performance boost over Bulldozer and a lot bigger gap between the PII got over the PI did back in the day.
----Something to think about-----
Has anybody benched any Bulldozer CPU? I have and I seen it clock down while in test? And it scored a low score, after turning off all the power throddling features, I got a much much better score. What the hell

So the 2M4C Trinity suppose to be faster than 4C Liano, and Core i3??

CMT on Bulldozer works well and hopefully works even better on "Piledriver" the CPU part of Trinity, so yeah it might be as good as 4C Llano, I3 is just a Dual Core, so yeah definitely.

This should be a good part, this segment is what Amd makes most of their sales in anyway, Apu laptops are amazing, and it's the only place where Amd has the better product, Intel just can't make a gpu to save itself.

Has anybody benched any Bulldozer CPU? here's a bit from final words: Unfortunately the same complaints we've had about AMD's processors over the past few years still apply here today: in lightly threaded scenarios, Bulldozer simply does not perform. To make matters worse, in some heavily threaded applications the improvement over the previous generation Phenom II X6 simply isn't enough to justify an upgrade for existing AM3+ platform owners. All websites came to the same conclusion,if someone still ignore that and buy himself BD he deserves it... abot Trinity: it looks like great product and I'm glad at least there AMD's doing well

Another troll need the ban hammer. Go back to Hard OCP.

Trinity looks like a good product that should fit the middle gound very well.

cpu side I am very much unimpressed and can just nuke my a8 3530mx any way up to 3ghz stable. gpu side I am not surprised they will put something better in this time around after all some in amd have a nick name for this "devastator".
