YouTube gets 4 billion hits a day

Written by Nermin Hajdarbegovic

Very bored planet

YouTube use seems to be skyrocketing and the outfit claims it streams more than four billion videos every day.

This is a 25 percent increase in just eight months and the trend is picking up steam. About 60 hours of video are uploaded to the service each minute, so by the time you read this, users would have uploaded a few hours of fresh content.

While it all may sound like a nice way to kill time, YouTube is a proper cash cow. It was acquired for $1.65 billion five years ago, but now it is already generating an estimated $5 billion in revenue a year.

Who knew there was such money to be made on talking animals and old music videos.
