VelociRaptor costs €250 in Europe

Yesterday, the big surprise was Western Digital's new 300GB VelociRaptor, the newest addition to WD's 10,000RPM Raptor series. The new Raptor is already listed at our favorite European price search engine, and it will cost you an arm and a leg.

If you managed to miss the launch of this new VelociRaptor, it is a two-platter, four-head 300GB 2.5-inch hard drive placed in a 3.5 inch WD IcePak cooling enclosure. It has 16MB of cache and comes with read seek time of 4.2ms and write seek time of 4.7ms.

The new VelociRaptor is still not available, but when it comes it might be among the fastest drives on the market. The price ranges from €230.76 at Austrian Nostra e-tailer to €249/€255 at German/Austrian Alternate.

You can find it listed here.
