Could a 3G Nexus 7 be on the way?

Written by Fudzilla staff

Rumoured to launch in six weeks

A well connected blogger claims that a 3G enabled version of Google’s Nexus 7 tablet is on the way.

Paul O’Brien claims that a 3G version of the cheap and cheerful tablet could launch in around six weeks, but he does not have an exact launch date or pricing info yet.

The 3G Nexus 7 won’t feature any other hardware changes, which is hardly surprising given that we are dealing with a pretty fresh product.

Although we are taking the report with a grain of salt, a data-enabled Nexus 7 would make a lot of sense, as Google could get quite a few carriers on board to subsidize it and sell it for next to nothing. Also, let’s not forget that Apple’s iPad mini is also on the way and it will probably be available in wifi and 3G/4G flavours like its big brother.
