Many retailers are looking for Nintendo to slash the price of the Wii U to get units moving in retail. A number of retailers are complaining that they are overstocked with both the Basic and Premium units. Nintendo so far has offered no word to retailers that any sort of price relief is coming.

“They are just sitting on the shelf, and considering the small amount of software there is for the Wii U so far, it is not surprising,” one retailer told us. The gripes about the lack of software seem to be a reoccurring theme, and even Nintendo has admitted that not as many titles as they would have liked have made it to release yet.

It is hard to say what Nintendo needs to do to get the Wii U back on track, but the lack of software coupled with the perception that it is graphically under powered when compared to the upcoming next generation systems isn’t doing Nintendo any favors.
