Sony has unveiled its new SmartWatch 2 that it markets as a wearable Android-powered "second screen" for android devices which allow users to answer calls, read email and texts, snap photos and much more.
The new SmartWatch 2 features a larger 1.6-inch 220x176 screen and takes a lot of desing details from Sony's Xperia Z smartphone book, including an aluminum power button as well as the IP57 certification which makes it water and dust resistant. It features a full aluminum body with stainless steel wristband and also feature NFC connectivity and microUSB port for charging.
As noted, the SmartWatch 2 connects to you favorite Android device via Bluetooth and give you an ability to answer phones, read emails and texts, show Facebook and Twitter updates, show calendar entries and act as a remote for the music player. Sony claims that the new SmartWatch 2 is a lot faster than its predecessor and has a few hundred apps specifically desinged for the experience that the SmartWatch 2 intends to provide.
Sony announced that the SmartWatch 2 will be available worldwide in September with a wide choice of 24mm wristbands including Sony's own watchstraps but the price still remains a mystery.
