Makes it an exclusive global distribution partner

AMD has announced that it has selected Sapphire as its exclusive global distribution partner for AMD FirePro professional graphics cards. Sapphire has been AMD exclusive partner for more than a decade so making it an exclusive distribution partner for FirePro series does not come as a surprise.

According to AMD, the distribution partnership will bring stronger support for AMD FirePro by delivering new distribution resoruces to AMD's channel ecosystem worldwide.

AMD's David Cumming, senior director and general manager for professional graphics has noted that "For many years we have enjoyed a strong, productive and mutually beneficial relationship with Sapphire. This new collaboration marks yet another exciting step in our award-winning AMD graphics history by opening up new markets for AMD FirePro. AMD is committed to growth in the professional graphics market, and as we build on the success of AMD FirePro, we sought out a distribution partner that would allow us to broaden our reach, support growing sales and embrace new opportunities. Sapphire was the natural choice."

Adrian Thompson, VP of marketing at Sapphire noted that Sapphire is quite pleased to be the primary champion for the channel and has experience in key professional markets that AMD FirePro targets, including CAD, media and entertainment, display walls and more. Adrian Thompson noted that it is a win-win scenario for both companies that they look forward to the expanded role in broadening the reach of AMD FirePro.

According to AMD, the distribution partnership is effective immediately and AMD FirePro distributed by Sapphire will show in channel as of October 1st, 2013. AMD's OEM partners will still have the ability to get those FirePro graphics cards directly from AMD.
