Ellison quits as Oracle head

Hurd and Catz left in charge

Oracle founder Larry Ellison has done the unthinkable and quit as the head of Oracle leaving Mark Hurd and Safra Catz sharing the reins of power. Ellison who has based his life around Genghis Khan’s motto “It’s not sufficient I succeed. Everyone else must fail” started the company after reading an IBM paper about relational databases and how they were going to change the world.

Ellison founded Oracle in the late '70s, and the company's software has become a key backbone for the internet and is widely used by the government and banking sectors. Like his role model, Ellison was a hands-on and heads off ruler, who ate executives for breakfast and spat them out almost as fast as his HR department could hire them. Catz was one of the few who managed to survive.

Hurd was a refugee from HP where he distinguished himself by pleasing Wall Street and annoying most of the staff. He was eventually knifed in a boardroom scandal where it was revealed that he had been fudging his expenses to woo a soft porn star Jodie Fisher. When wanted to keep it quiet the board lost confidence in him.

Ellison will be the executive chairman of Oracle's board, as well as the company's chief technology officer.

Oracle turned Ellison into the 7th richest man in the world, with a net worth of $46 billion. He tended to live the lifestyle in a Tony Stark manner. He owns his own Hawaiian island, and many homes, yachts, and cars. Our theory for his surprise retirement is that he wants to build an Iron Man suit.
