It looks like Nvidia is on the offensive with G-SYNC, as all of the sudden there is a bushel of choices available. It took Nvidia a long time to get the technology off the ground and as Nvidia executives told to us, it was not an easy problem to solve. We saw it live and it looks promising, as it eliminates tears and improves output quality.

The AOC 24-inch G2460PG gaming monitor is the latest device to support Nvidia G-Sync and this might be one of the cooler 24-inch monitors to get for a gamer this holiday season. This is a 1080p monitor with an 80,000,000:1 contrast ratio and typical brightness of 300cd/ m2. It has a typical response time of 5ms and (OD:1ms) with 16.7 million colours and170°H/160°V viewing angles. AOC can provide a 144Hz refresh rate that is significantly better than 60 Hz for gaming.

AOC uses DisplayPort 1.2 connector and comes with a 100x100mm VESA mount. It expands via two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports that will let you connect more peripherals and charge a phone or tablet on your desktop. Nvidia G-SYNC will eliminate annoying screen tearing and minimise display stutter, but of course it will only work with Kelpler and Maxwell cards. This monitor will also support Nvidia 3D Vision technology. The G2460PG also supports Nvidia Ultra Low Motion Blur (ULMB) technology that makes objects in motion looks sharper. You can enable it with a push of a button in front of the screen and it currently works at 85Hz, 100Hz, and 120Hz refresh rates.

We prefer somewhat more spacious monitors such as 27-inchers or even bigger units, but some people just want to get a 24-incher and enjoy their games in small spaces such as dorm rooms.

The display is available at Micro Center for $449, which sounds very steep for a 1080p 24-inch panel.
