Touch ID and the same A7 SoC

Apple unveiled a couple of new devices today, including the rather underwhelming iPad mini update, the iPad mini 3.

While we heard a lot about it from earlier leaks, we honestly hoped that the Touch ID sensor, needed for Apple Pay, is not the biggest update for the iPad mini 3, but we were wrong. Stating that the Retina screen on iPad mini has received a 100 percent customer satisfaction rating, Apple did not change a single thing about it, so we are still looking at the same 7.9-inch 2048x1536 resolution screen with 326ppi.

While the iPad Air 2 got plenty of updates with a zero-gap thinner display, new A8X SoC, Apple's iPad mini 3 will be rocking the same display as well as the same Apple A7 SoC seen in the predecessor. It also comes with the same 5-megapixel iSight camera so basically you get Touch ID and new gold color model to pair it up with your blingy iPhone.

The iPad mini 3 pre-orders will kick off tomorrow with price set at US $399 for the 16GB version, US $499 for the 64GB one and US $599 for the 128GB version, all WiFi-only models. As you can see, the 32GB model is gone with the wind, same as with the iPad Air 2, while LTE versions of iPad mini 3 will have a US $130 premium.
