Point of View / TGT GTX 580 Ultra Charged
Preview: Reinventing Nvidia
TGT is definitely keen on showing everyone they mean business, and the GTX 580 Ultra Charged stands as proof of this. This is one of the first factory overclocked GTX 580 cards and its clocks are pretty high compared to the reference ones. While the reference cards run at 772MHz for the GPU and 1002MHz (4008MHz effectively) for the GDDR5 memory, Point of View / TGT’s GTX 580 Ultra Charged comes with a GPU clocked at 841MHz and memory at 1026MHz (4104MHz effectively).
The card comes with reference dual slot cooling.
We managed to push the reference GTX 580, tested here, to 855MHz, which is only 14MHz higher than GTX 580 Ultra Charged’s clock. Ultra Charged, on the other hand, hit 888MHz GPU with ease. Today is reserved for Aliens vs. Predator tests, but we’ll soon have the full review online. As you can see, the GTX 580 Ultra Charged is up to 8.8% faster than the reference card, making it currently the fastest single-GPU card.
GTX 580 UC is quiet when idle and it isn’t loud during operation. Gaming tests resulted in GPU temperatures hitting up to 89°C, which is a few °C higher than on the reference card.
The card currently goes for about €525, here. Point of View / TGT sweetened this deal with a gift game - Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands.
