Movie piracy has been on the decline for a while as legitimate content at a reasonable price became available. However that has turned around again as Netflix attempted to bring in a regional control system which makes it difficult for users to get the content they want.

On Thursday, the Sydney Morning Herald reported that some users in Australia are now being blocked when they use virtual private network (VPN) services in their home country to access Netflix content intended for other regions, primarily the United States.

Price hike begins in 2H 2016 for "Standard" 1080p subscribers


In a recent letter to shareholders, the company announced its earnings for Q4 2015, showing a $36.7 million profit year-over-year and warning its grandfathered subscribers on the $7.99 price for “Standard” 1080p service that they can expect a price hike starting in the second half of this year.
