Pre-“RAMpocalypse” Pricing and Solid Everyday Performance

Mini PCs have always been close to my heart. Ever since I saw the first Intel NUC and realized what a mobile-intended chip could do in a compact footprint, it was attraction at first sight. Even years before that, I remember many early attempts at the small form factor (SFF) market and the challenge of squeezing a capable machine into a tiny chassis.

Over the years, countless manufacturers have entered the space with their own takes on the concept. Recently, however, GEEKOM has done a stellar job delivering a wide variety of highly capable systems across every price bracket.

The GEEKOM A5 Pro (2026 Edition) leans heavily into this premium evolution, wrapping an ultra-compact footprint in a rigid, stunning all-aluminum alloy chassis. Measuring just 112.4 x 112.4 x 37 mm, it occupies virtually zero desk real estate while delivering a dense feature set—including quad-display support, an integrated full-sized SD card reader, and 2.5GbE LAN networking. Powered by an efficient AMD Ryzen 5 7530U processor, it is a solid workhorse for daily office productivity and light content creation.

The AMD Ryzen 5 7530U is built on AMD’s mature Zen 3 architecture (codenamed “Barcelo Refresh”). It shares its core DNA with the older Ryzen 5 5625U as an updated iteration of that silicon. Fabricated on TSMC’s 7nm FinFET process for the FP6 socket, this mobile-oriented chip finds a great second home in the small form factor A5 Pro.

Featuring 6 cores and 12 threads, the CPU operates at a 2.0 GHz base clock with boost clocks reaching up to 4.5 GHz. It includes 3MB of L2 cache, 16MB of L3 cache, and a default TDP of 15W. Graphical duties are handled by integrated AMD Radeon Vega 7 Graphics (7 CUs running at up to 2,000 MHz). On the memory side, the platform supports dual-channel DDR4-3200 or LPDDR4X-4267—a practical hardware choice that bypasses currently skyrocketing DDR5 prices.

While legacy hardware choices like a PCIe 3.0 storage bus and aging Vega-series graphics prevent it from being a gaming powerhouse, its structural build quality, 2.5GbE LAN, and 3-year warranty make it one of the most reliable everyday mini PCs in its price bracket.

Design, Connectivity & Thermal Management

The first thing you notice when unboxing the GEEKOM A5 Pro is its build quality. Unlike budget competitors that favor plastic outer shells to cut costs, GEEKOM utilizes a unibody aluminum alloy chassis. The sandblasted matte finish feels solid and fingerprint-resistant, making it rugged enough to drop into a bag for field work or travel.

Its palm-sized footprint sits unobtrusively on any desk. For a completely clean workspace, GEEKOM includes a standard VESA mounting bracket to attach the PC directly to the back of a monitor. Keep in mind that mounting the chassis will make the side-mounted full-sized SD card reader much harder to access.

Front port includes two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports and a 3.5mm audio combo jack. Side panel has a Full size SD card reader and Kensington lock slot. Back of the machine comes with two HDMI 2.0, two USB Type C ports supporting DisplayPort, 2.5 GbE LAN card and two USB A Gen 2 

Connectivity is exceptionally dense for a machine of this size. The front panel handles quick-access peripherals with dual 10Gbps USB-A ports, while the rear houses display routing and primary network connections. The standout inclusion here is the 2.5GbE LAN port. Transferring files across a local network to a high-speed NAS or server is significantly faster than on standard Gigabit setups, making a real difference when offloading photo archives or large datasets.

Thermal duties are managed by GEEKOM’s IceBlast 2.0 cooling solution, which pairs dual copper heat pipes with a low-profile intake fan. Because the underlying Ryzen 5 chip operates at a modest TDP, the thermal load remains low. Throughout testing, the chassis stayed cool to the touch. Acoustically, it operates near silently; under normal office workflows, the fan profile is barely audible, scaling up to a faint, non-intrusive hum only during heavier batch processing in Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom.
