Gigabyte isn't one of the big contenders in the notebook market, but the company has gained some popularity with its VIA-based UMPC devices and the notebook division at Gigabyte should have an Atom-based product later this year, among other things.
For now, you'll have to make do with a pictures of its upcoming 13.3-inch notebook which goes under the name of W348M. The design seems to feature some metail inlays around the touchpad and the general design looks quite up to date.
Hardware-wise you're looking at Intel's GM965 chipset with integrated graphics, a choice of Celeron M, Pentium Dual Core and Core Duo or Core 2 Duo processors. The display has a native resolution of 1,280x800. Other features include a built-in optical drive, a selection of WiFi options including 802.11n, two memory slots for up to 4GB of DDR2 667MHz memory and a standard 2.5-inch hard drive bay.
In terms of connectivity the W348M features a D-sub, three USB 2.0 ports, an Ethernet port, a modem jack, front-mounted audio jacks, a front-mounted card reader for SD and MS cards and, finally, an Express Card slot.
The W348M will weigh in at about 2.3kg with the battery, which seems somewhat heavy for a 13.3-inch notebook and it measures 318x237x37mm (DxWxH) at its thickest part. We have no word on availability, but we'd expect it to launch shortly.
