Taiwanese computer maker Asustek has launched a low-cost laptop computer targeting children, elderly and low-income users. The "Eee PC" weighs 0.89 kilograms, has mostly flash based memory and is based on Linux.
It is not that affordable in comparison to other low priced PCs heading onto the market. It will sell for US $337.40. Three other models will hit the market before the end of next month with prices of US$245.40, $303.70 and $426, respectively.
Asustek expected shipment of the PC model at 300,000 units in the three months before December.
