Digital camera
sales will peak in 2010, according to IDC figures. The analyst company predicts that the market will grow 8 percent to hit 114 million units in 2007, but it is fast saturating.

IDC points out that already camera makers have begun emphasising products and features for customers who are upgrading or want multiple cameras. It claims that even emerging markets will soon dry up and demand will fall off after 2010.

The analysts say that the exception will be with digital single-lens reflex cameras.  These are bulkier more expensive but offer better performance and a variety of interchangeable lenses.

IDC predicts that these will continue to grow by nine percent in 2011.
