Wal-mart 360 $249 price an error

by on30 August 2011

Will honor the price this week, however
While sources close to the situation assure us that despite the fact Microsoft does not discuss the pricing strategy for its hardware in advance, it turns out that the Wal-mart lowering of the Xbox 360 4GB Kinect bundle to $249 was apparently an error.

While a notice posted by Wal-mart admits the rollback pricing was an error, the company does plan to honor the $249 price while supplies last at retail till Monday, September 5th. There will be no rainchecks offered to those who can’t find one at a retail store.

Although the decision to implement this price rollback was Wal-mart’s alone, too much whispering from a number of sources does suggest that Microsoft will slash the price on some of its console offerings to address the recent price cut by Sony as we head into the holiday season. When this price cut will happen is currently unknown, but sources suggest that we should expect it to happen. In the meantime, grabbing one of the Xbox 360 4GB Kinect bundles at $249 from Wal-mart would seem to be a solid value.
