Buys Stoneware

PC maker Lenovo has bought software company Stoneware as it boosts its cloud computing operations.

Lenovo will add new technologies and boost its capabilities for commercial and consumer cloud and add the ability to provide secure content across multiple devices in education and government. Lenovo will also help Stoneware branch out its cloud products into more consumer-focused products.

Peter Hortensius, senior vice-president, and president, Product Group, Lenovo issued a statement which was full of non-words like “leverage,” “innovation” and “embracing new technologies” so the deal must be important. Rick German, CEO, Stoneware, said the acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of 2012 and in the coming weeks the US Stoneware team, which will remain in Indiana and Utah in the US, will be fully integrated into Lenovo.
