Google rules out Windows 8 apps

No time for minority operating systems

Search engine Google has decided not to write any apps for Windows 8 saying that there is not enough interest in the minority operating system.

So that means that users of Windows 8 will not be able to load Windows Phone or Windows 8 PC with dedicated Gmail or Google Drive apps. According to V3 Google said that it had no plans to build out Windows apps. Google Apps product management director Clay Bavor said that Google was careful about where it invested and will go where the users are but they are not on Windows Phone or Windows 8.

Bavor added that a change in user base would warrant applications brewed up by Google however really the outfit is only interested in iOS and Android. It is a tad short sighted. After all while there is not a lot of Windows 8 stuff out there now, there will be pretty soon. It would be a shame if all that traffic had to use Bing.
