Premium gaming desktop

In addition to the small and thin Envy, HP's Voodoo has launched a much larger gaming desktop system, the Voodoo Omen. The large aluminum tower chassis is standing tall and heavy with height of 58,42 cm and weight at around 45kg, which makes it a new Goliath on the block.

The new Voodoo Omen comes with a built-in 7-inch widescreen LCD capable of showing 800x480 resolution. Besides the integrated LCD it packs quite a punch, with Core 2 Extreme CPUs like QX9770 and QX9650 paired up with Asus Striker Extreme II motherboard based on Nvidia 790i chipset and up to 8GB of Corsair Dominator DDR-1600 memory. The graphics are done by SLI or CrossfireX setups, consisting of Nvidia's Geforce 8800 Ultra or ATI's Radeon HD 3870 cards.

The storage consists of either three SATA drives with a total size of up to 3TB or six SSDs of up to 384GBs. Other noted components include DVD or Blu-Ray optical drives, Creative's Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer or XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional, air or liquid cooling, up to a 1,300W PSU and a choice of either Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit or Vista Home Premium 64-bit.

You better have a fat wallet, at least unless you want to get a heart attack when you take a look at the price, which starts from US$7,000. This premium system really comes with a premium price. It should be available on June 27th, the same as the little Envy 133.
