Facebook developing professional website

Facebook at Work is the name

Social networking giant Facebook is said to be working on a new website for professional users.

Dubbed “Facebook at Work,” the new site will allow users to keep their personal profile separate from their work profile.

The news was leaked by the Financial Times, which said the new website will still look like Facebook, but will be designed to compete with LinkedIn and some services offered by Google and Microsoft.

Facebook at Work will allow users to collaborate on documents and communicate with team members. Details are sketchy, but it appears that Facebook is trying to take on Google Docs, while at the same time going after LinkedIn’s professional audience.

According to the paper, the new site isn’t actually all new, as it has been used by Facebook employees for a while.
