Sony releases daft silent SD cards

Sounds of silence

Sony has released a super expensive SD card for the terminally daft in the audiophile market.

The new 64 gigabyte SR-64HXA micro SDXC memory card $160 memory cards are supposed to offer "Premium Sound" because it generates less electrical noise when reading data.

Even Sony is not sure if there are any customers out there who would actually be interested in the card, which will hit the shops next month.

"We aren't that sure about the product's potential demand, but we thought some among people who are committed to great sound quality would want it," a Sony spokeswoman said.

Question is how many audiophiles would stuff their sound on an SD card in the first place and then how many would think that the SD card would make more noise than their CD or record player. After if an audiophile ran a digital collection, they would use a DAC to decode a digital signal and you would not get any electrical sound off it.
