Microdia stuffs 512GB onto a microSD card

by on03 June 2015

Twice what else is out there

Microdia has been showing the good people of Computex a microSD card which has twice the memory that SanDisk announced back at Mobile World Congress.

The Xtra Elite can pack 512GB into its cards, thanks in part to the SDXC format allows for up to 2TB cards.  So far though 2TB is but a dream.

Microdia told us that if we were asking how much it would cost we probably couldn’t afford it the Xtra Elite will cost around $1,000 when it goes on sale in July.

The Xtra Elite will use version 4.0 of the Secure Digital standard, and feature an Ultra High Speed (UHS) bus with data transfer rates of up to 300MBps.

It is supposed to be used by professional photographers who need fast transfer speeds and lots of space for high quality snaps.
