Windows 10 PC replacement will be slow

Hardware industry sighs

PC makers are already predicting that any knock on demand for their product based on Windows 10 will be slow to happen.

Digitimes  has been talking to its supply chain makers who believe that any PC surge will be slow.

Since Windows 10 has several new features such as Cortana and facial identification, users who download the OS to try it out are likely to need an upgrade to their hardware.

However the belief is that they will do this slowly and much later time to gain better use experience.

Notebook ODMs are sceptical about Windows 10 being triggering a strong replacement trend.

They expect notebook shipments to remain weak in July, but pick up in both August and September. Growth after then will depend if Windows 10 does well.
