Writes at 160MB/s

OCZ has officially announced its Apex SSD, the same one that was showcased at CES. The new 2.5-inch Apex SSD series will be available in 60, 120 and 250GB capacities and will feature an updated controller with internal RAID design for maximum performance.

The new Apex series drives feature read and write speeds of up to 230MB/s and 160MB/s respectively. It uses the SATA 3.0 Gbps interface and has a MTBF (mean time before failure) of 1.5 million hours. OCZ isn't shipping the new Apex series just yet, but according to our info these drives should start to appear sometime at the end of this month, or in early February.

The new Apex should be positioned somewhere between the Solid and Vertex SSD series, so expect to pay around €200 for the 60GB, a bit over €350 for the 120GB version or around €700 for the top 250GB version. The Apex series comes with a 2 year warranty.
