Greenpeace
has slammed the world's three largest PC makers, HP, Dell and Lenovo, for failing to clean up their act and phase out toxic chemicals in their products.

Environmentalists claim all three have come up short on their promises to stop using polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic and brominated flame retardants (BFRs) from their products by the end of this year. Greenpeace looked at 18 companies, and it ranked Dell 13th, HP 14th, and Lenovo 16th. Japanese toymaker Nintendo was last, and Fujitsu wasn't much better, ranking 17th.

Looking at the top of the list, Nokia is leading the pack with a score of 7.4 out of a possible 10. It is being trailed by Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LGE, Toshiba, Motorola. Sony has dropped from 5th place to 12th, as it has failed to keep pace with progress made by other companies. Apple ranked 11th, and Greenpeace praised it for dropping PVC and BFR on its latest products.
