Three months to contemplate the meaning of life

A British teen got the unflattering distinction of being the first person in the UK to be jailed for bullying on a social networking site.

18-year old Keeley Houghton of Malvern, Worcestershire, was sentenced to three months in a young offenders' institution after pleading guilty to harassment charges. Houghton threatened to kill Emily Moore, who she had earlier bullied at school. So, as if four years of tormenting Moore wasn't enough, she wrote some rather nasty stuff about Moore on her Facebook page, saying among other things that she's "going to murder the bitch."

Houghton apparently sobbed during sentencing, and if you think the sentence is a bit too harsh, consider that she had two previous convictions for similar offenses aimed against Moore. To top it all off, she even threatened Moore in court, telling her she would give her something "to ring the police about." Houghton was also banned from contacting Moore for five years, and this is probably for her own good.

So, if you don't want to end up like Houghton, or those rather unfortunate chaps who DDoSed Fudzilla, don't mess about online.
