A highly convenient new feature

Google has
recently decided to improve its already very cost-effective Voice service by adding a feature that many hardcore email users may find rather convenient in every way.

The information giant’s latest upcoming surprise, Google Voice, already includes the ability to send and receive SMS messages from user-connected mobile phones or at the computer. Today, the service just got one step more useful with the ability to send and receive text messages by email.

After enabling SMS-to-email forwarding in the service, Google will send email notifications to the email address of choice every time a new SMS message is received on a user’s Google Voice number. Keep in mind that the message does in fact have to be received on the Google Voice number, which means those of you who already have accounts should be telling your friends to call and text only at your Google Voice number.

In addition, users to opt to receive SMS notifications through Gmail will get the extra benefit of threading all SMS between contacts into one conversation, similar to the way iPhone users send and receive texts. All we can say at this point is that Google Voice is definitely becoming an inseparable part of our voice communication needs due to its cost effective nature and organized voice data management all in one location.
