Will drop the price to push sales before 2010 arrival

The game that has been dubbed by some as the game that saved THQ has announced that they have sold 3.5 million units of UFC Undisputed 2009. This 3.5 million in sales is impressive when you consider that this was a first-year release for the company with very uncertain expectations of what kind of sales that they could expect.

Prior to the release of UFC Undisputed 2010 this spring, THQ is dropping the price of the UFC Undisputed 2009 to $29.99 as the title moves to the Platinum Hits collection on Xbox 360 and the Greatest Hits collection on the PlayStation 3. Of course, this should help push the sales numbers even higher for the 2009 edition of the game.

The UFC Undisputed 2010 release which is scheduled for May 25, 2010 will be an important one for THQ, as rival Electronic Arts will be releasing their first MMA title under the EA Sports brand. Despite the fact that the EA Sports MMA title is at a disadvantage by the sheer fact that it does not have the partnership with UFC, the company could offer some new things that might be attractive.

Developer Yukes, which is best known for their work on the WWE wrestling video games, isn’t worried about UFC Undisputed 2010, according to our sources. The developer has much experience building these types of titles, which has to be a comfort to publisher THQ that will be expecting bigger things with its next release this time around.
