Apparently, trademark has been filed

Texas-based developer Gearbox has been quiet since the release of its highly successful Borderlands, along with the expansion packs to go along with the game. However, the developer has not been shy about hiding the fact that they have three projects currently in development with only one that we can name, which is Aliens: Colonial Marines.

We might be able to cut through at least some of the mystery prior to E3 by finding out that the developer has filed for a trademark for a new videogame that is called Z-Day. Nothing is known about what Z-Day might be, but we don’t think it is the MMO FPS title that has been in development for a couple of years by a small developer called Arrowhead Games. Arrowhead apparently might not have filed for a trademark for the name Z-Day, according to sources.

Gearbox did let it slip on their Twitter feed that they are looking for people to act as a focus group to test a yet-to-be released product. We have no clue what they might be testing, but it could be Aliens: Colonial Marines or maybe Z-Day. Whispers do indicate from our Plano area sources that the company is at least starting to work toward a new Borderlands sequel, but apparently that is still a long way off from being announced officially beyond knowing that they are working on it.
