Ubisoft to delay MJ title on 360 & PS3

by on13 September 2010

Other versions still on track for November
Michael Jackson: The Experience that Ubisoft has been hard at work preparing for release has apparently hit a bit of a snag. While the Wii, DS, and PSP versions of the title are still on track for a November 23rd release in North America, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will be delayed for release in early 2011.

The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the title are said to play like the Just Dance title from Ubisoft, taking advantage of each platform’s motion controller technology to allow players to sing and dance to a selection of MJ’s greatest hits. The DS and PSP versions of the game deliver an experience that is more like a “tap-rhythm” title, which could shed at least some light on the need for the delay.

The whispers that we hear seem to confirm what Ubisoft’s PR department is saying: the decision to delay the release of the 360 and PS3 versions was made to allow the developers more time to work on and tweak the Kinect and Move experience to maximize what the new technology can deliver. No new release date has been set for the release in 2011 of the 360 and PS3 versions, but our sources seem to think it is likely for a mid-March or early April release.
