AMD has issued a new Catalyst 10.1 hotfix that takes care of the "grey screen crash" that has been quite a nuisance. According to various posts around the net and on AMD's official forum, in addition to grey stripes problem, HD 5000 series were known to randomly show artifacts, lock ups and other issues.

AMD's new hotfix officially deals with intermittent grey screen and vertical line corruptions that "may" randomly appear during normal usage with Radeon HD 5800 series graphics cards. Although, AMD has issued this hotfix for Radeon HD 5800, the same mentioned reports are putting the entire HD 5000 series in the same basket so we hope that this one will fix problems for users with those cards as well.
