AMD Radeon R9 Fury Pro revealed

by on08 July 2015

Or at least rumoured

AMD mentioned that the AMD Radeon R9 Fury STRIX graphics card was coming out at the 'New Era of PC Gaming' presentation but we did not  see anything.

Now TweakTown quoting unnamed and uncredited industry insiders have spilt the beans on the spec. The rumours might be pants, but they do have some shred of authenticity.

AMD Radeon R9 Fury specs

  • Fiji PRO GPU
  • 1050MHz GPU clock
  • 3584 Stream Processors
  • 4GB HBM
  • 500MHz (1GHz effective) Memory clock
  • 512GB/s of bandwidth

The AMD Radeon R9 Fury X offers 512 fewer Stream Processors. It means that only 56 of the 64 compute units are enabled. It apparently can run at temperatures below 75°C in most cases which is higher than the water cooled Fury X's 50°C. But AiB partners can create R9 Fury cards with their own custom cooler designs so all that might change.

Other than that it is not much different. Maximum frame rates in games are expected to be about 10 to 15 per cent slower. The Fiji PRO based R9 Fury graphics cards should become available from AMD's partners in the coming weeks.
