Sense UI is to blame

Following the launch of Google's new Galaxy Nexus smartphone and the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, HTC decided to issue a statement regarding their upgrade path.

According to the statement, HTC is currently reviewing the features of Ice Cream Sandwich and are quite excited regarding the launch, but as always HTC will stick to its HTC Sense UI. In HTC's own words, "the goal for Android updates is to give every customer an improved user experience, which means balancing each phone's unique hardware, HTC Sense experience and the Android kernel".

In short, HTC wants to tune its Sense UI before rolling out the update to some of its smartphones, most probably Sensation and EVO 4G. Unfortunately, HTC didn't give any specific timeframe. Hopefully they have been at it for quite some time and proud owners of HTC devices won't have to wait an eternity for it.
