All new HTC One spec leaked

by on12 March 2014

No surprises really

We're not fans of most smartphone related leaks, as the vast majority tend to be fake and some were spectacularly wrong, but for some reason many publications use them as clickbait. While we are a tech tabloid, we're still not in the business of spreading nonsense - you've got Fox News and RT for that sort of thing.

However, now we're seeing what appears to be a legit HTC leak outlining the headline features of the all new HTC One. The leak comes from GSM Arena in the form of an internal sales guide. The new One looks very promising indeed. The phone is said to measure 146.36 x 70.6 x 9.35mm and weighs 160g. It's not the thinnest or lightest smartphone around, but then again this is an all-metal HTC device, which means it can be used to grind most smartphones to dust - and play Candy Crush afterwards.

It has a 5-inch 1080p screen, quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3GHz, a 2,600mAh battery and - oddly enough - a microSD slot. The addition of a memory card slot is surprising, as it was absent from HTC flagships for years.

There is still no word on the rear camera, but GSM Arena speculates that we could be looking at another 4-megapixel Ultrapixel camera. This may prove to be a controversial choice - some praise HTC's Ultrapixel camera for good low-light performance, while others argue it's just not sharp enough. However, the new One will feature two cameras on the back, but 3D shots don't appear to be what they're all about. The dual camera setup should allow more effects with two different lenses. The front facing camera is apparently a 5-megapixel unit.

We still don't know the exact price or launch date, but it seems like Samsung may have a lot to deal with - the Galaxy S5 is starting to look like a lemon, er, band-aid.
