16GB version

LG’s new curvy Android flagship is set to cost €599 in Europe (SIM free), which means UK consumers are probably looking at £499. The full spec was leaked in a press release a few days ago.

The LG G Flex 2 is based around a 5.5-inch 1080p curved OLED display with a 700mm radius curved profile. (I have two pairs of carving skis, with 12m and 15m radii, yet I’m stuck editing this. Ed)

The curved display is protected by a pane of Gorilla Glass 3 and the phone measures 149x75x9.4mm, weighing in at 152g.

As far as hardware goes, the Flex 2 sports Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 810, with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. The SoC features Adreno 430 graphics.

The Flex 2 ships with 2GB of RAM and the currently listed version has 16GB of built in storage, but luckily there’s a microSDXC slot on board, capable of accommodating 128GB cards. The phone packs a built in 3000mAh battery and there’s even an FM radio on board.

In the imaging department, the Flex 2 features a 13-megapixel camera with laser autofocus, optical image stabilisation (OIS) and a dual LED flash. Thanks to the speedy processor, the camera can record UHD (2160p) video at 30fps. The front facing camera is a 2.1-megapixel affair.

Connectivity should not be an issue, either, as the Flex 2 has 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and an IR blaster, along with a micro USB 2.0 SlimPort connector.

Not bad, but not cheap either – but it all depends on your carrier, unless you want to stay away from two-year contracts and pay full retail.
