AMD’s share to sink

We asked some industry insiders about the possibility of ATIC taking more of the Globalfoundries stake, and we learned that this is exactly the agenda for this big UAE investor.

These guys wants to take more of the Globalfoundries share out of AMD as all the restrictions against this are gone. Intel seems to be fine with Globalfoundries and this was the part of the big settlement that was announced in late December.

Overall AMD wants to focus more on products and it should slowly trade its part of ownership percentage in Globalfoundries probably for more money.

Globalfoundries is already a big player in the chip manufacturing – FAB industry and its time is yet to come. Future demands just more chips, so there should be enough work for just about any fab, but the real fight will be in cutting edge and future transition to 28, 22nm, 15-16nm and beyond.
