Jim Anderson, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Computing and Graphics Business Group at AMD, briefly showed a video that teases Ryzen Threadripper branding as well as the information that it will be coming sometime in summer this year.

Heavily rumored and leaked earlier, AMD Threadripper CPUs will have up to 16 CPU cores and up to 32 threads and will use AMD's new HEDT platform which will have better I/O, more PCIe lanes, and most likely, a quad-channel DDR4 memory support. All of this means that the Ryzen Threadripper series is basically Naples for desktop, although Naples is available in 32 core/64 thread version as well.

Earlier rumors point that the Ryzen Threadripper series will be available in 10-core, 12-core, and 16-core SKUs, which will put some pressure on Intel's upcoming Skylake-X lineup.

AMD is leaving all the juicy details about Ryzen Threadripper and the new HEDT platform for Computex 2017 show starting later this month, so it won't be long before we see how well will AMD compete with Intel's HEDT Skylake-X SKUs.
