Leaks out of China say Honor is lining up a budget handset with a battery so big you will start checking your trouser seams.
The device is tipped to be the Honor X80 GT, and the chatter claims it is heading for a 13,080mAh battery. One report even throws in, “What’s the ideal smartphone battery capacity for you?” as if anyone was about to answer “please, make it smaller”.
If the Weibo tipster is right, it will stomp past the usual mainstream figures and turn day-long battery life into a quaint memory. It makes the Fruity Cargo Cult Apple and Samsung flagships look like they are running on fumes.
Honor has been warming up for this, shipping recent models around the 10,000mAh mark in its WIN line and the Power 2. Those were already comically large for anything pretending to be a normal phone you carry, not a camping lantern with a SIM slot.
The X80 GT rumour goes further, with claims the actual rated capacity is 13,080mAh and that it will “feature the biggest battery ever”. The same leak frames it as the new front-runner in the “biggest battery capacity” race, which is a very 2026 sentence.
To be fair, there are phones with even more outrageous cells, but they come with compromises that the mainstream market usually won’t accept. The Unihertz Tank 3 Pro is cited at 23,800mAh.
Timing-wise, the talk is that Honor could push the X80 GT out in the first half of 2026, with everything else still under wraps. That means the spec sheet is a mystery for now, except for the one number designed to drown out all the others.
Samsung will not love the optics if this lands cleanly. The leak claims the Koreans have been testing 12,000mAh and 18,000mAh batteries but this shiny toy will be mainstream.
If the phone really does ship, expect the marketing to lean hard into leaving your charger at home, and expect your hand to notice the laws of physics. The phone will have such a big battery that you’d want to call it a power bank instead, and then you will try fitting it into jeans.
