Biostar teases next-gen AMD boards

Biostar has become the first motherboard vendor to confirm that next-generation AMD boards will be on display at Computex.

The outfit said: “Biostar, a leading manufacturer of edge AI computing, industrial motherboards, consumer motherboards, graphics cards, and storage devices, will showcase its latest hardware platforms and AI computing solutions at Computex Taipei 2026 under the theme “Leading AI, Innovating the Future.”

“Marking four decades of innovation in computing hardware, BIOSTAR’s 40th-anniversary lineup spans AI PCs, edge computing, and industrial applications, underscoring the company’s continued focus on advancing intelligent computing across both consumer and industrial markets,” the company said.

The boards could be built for Ryzen chips based on Zen 6, although the outfit is keeping things vague. Among AMD motherboard vendors, Biostar is the one using the term “next-gen” for its Computex 2026 products.

The company has not explained what it means by “Next-Gen” AMD Motherboards, leaving plenty of room for educated guesswork.

AMD is working on its Zen 6-based Ryzen family, codenamed Olympic Ridge. That line is expected to offer up to 24 cores. The next Ryzen family should bring performance and efficiency improvements.

Platform changes could be chunky too, with board makers already rolling out support for EXPO 1.2. That update adds early support for CUDIMM and Ultra-Low Latency DDR5 memory.

This means Computex could bring teasers or early designs for AMD’s next AM5 platforms from board makers such as Biostar. The other possibility is less glamorous.

Biostar could simply be calling refreshed 800-series boards “next-gen.”Both options look plausible, although one is clearly more exciting than another warmed-up motherboard range.
