16GB GPUs still rule Mindfactory

German GPU buyers are still paying through the nose for 16GB cards rather than slumming it with 8GB models.

According to TechEpiphany on X, GPU retail sales in July 2026 showed that higher-VRAM graphics cards remained the strongest sellers. The numbers, which are based on Mindfactory sales data show that the Radeon RX 9070 XT led the German retailer’s GPU chart with nearly 725 units shipped. That gave AMD’s card almost 33 per cent of the total market at Mindfactory for the month.

The Radeon RX 9060 XT followed, helped by its 16GB version rather than the more cramped 8GB model. Buyers appear unwilling to spend new GPU money on memory limits that already feel stingy.

Nvidia’s strongest seller was the RTX 5070, with the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5060 Ti 16GB still among the better-moving cards. The RTX 5060 Ti has become daftly expensive in some shops, but the extra memory keeps dragging punters in.

The weaker end of the chart was less flattering. Cards with 8GB of memory, including parts of the RTX 5060 series, RTX 5050, and other entry-level models, barely moved beyond 20-25 units each.

That suggests gamers have got the memo on VRAM, even if graphics card pricing remains absurd. Paying more for 16GB looks grim, but buying 8GB in 2026 can look worse once new games start gobbling memory.

The recent RAMpocalypse has hit higher-end cards harder because bigger VRAM pools need more memory chips. Entry-level cards have avoided some of the worst pain so far, although PC Partner Group has warned that cheap GPUs could become nearly unaffordable in the second half of 2026.

The July figures do not fully capture the newest price rises, which kicked in at the start of August 2026. Those hikes could dent 16GB card sales in later numbers, especially if retailers keep treating GPUs like luxury watches.

For now, Mindfactory’s chart says buyers would rather cough up for more VRAM than be stuck with a short-lived bargain. Nvidia still has strong revenue pull, but AMD’s 16GB Radeon cards are doing the volume damage.
