At its CES 2026 event, Nvidia has announced its new Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) 4.5 technology, which comes as a major update after DLSS 4 was announced back in 2024 with Geforce RTX 50 series Blackwell graphics cards. Available now as NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, and coming this Spring with Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and 6X Multi Frame Generation, the DLSS 4.5 promises to bring much higher frame rate in path-traced titles.
As said, Nvidia is currently launching DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, which will be available immediately for over 400 games. Based on eight years of research as well as six years of refining Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), according to Nvidia, it utilizes five times the compute power of the original transformer model, delivering much more detailed images.

While previous techniques were working in logarithmic space, the results were far from ideal, with muted lighting, low details, and lousy shadows, the new DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution trains and infers directly in linear space, providing much better lighting, details and even shadows.
It takes full advantage of Geforce RTX 40 and 50 series GPUs, providing much better image quality across all settings, including Quality and Balanced modes. As a result, it provides sharper anti-aliasing, reduces ghosting, and enhances temporal stability.

Nvidia DLSS 4.5 with Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and new 6X mode
The DLSS 4.5 with Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and new 6X Multi Frame Generation mode will be coming this Spring, and it is a whole different beast as it upgrades on the current DLSS 4 4X Mode, bring not only superior image stability, but also improvements in frame pacing and image quality. According to Nvidia, this increases 4K frame rates in path-traced titles by up to 35 percent, making 240+ FPS path-traced gaming possible on Geforce RTX 50 series GPUs. The Dynamic Multi Frame Generation will be an intelligent system that will switch between multipliers in order to provide perfect balance between frame rate, image quality and responsiveness. This will allow automatically apply the perfect DLSS multiplier for your monitor, or to be precise, for the refresh rate of your monitor.
