Sapphire did not bring any new graphics cards or its long-awaited PURE motherboards to the CES 2026 show, but it did show the new EDGE+ VPR-7P132 AMD Embedded+ mini-ITX motherboard aimed at AI edge computing.
The new Sapphire EDGE+ VPR-7P132 motherboard is a small mini-ITX 170x170mm form-factor motherboard that combines AMD Ryzen AI Embedded processors with AMD Versal AI Edge Series Gen 2 adaptive SoCs on a single board, making it a “flexible, high-performance platform for real-time AI, sensor processing, and edge computing applications.”
Specification-wise, it features the new MD Ryzen AI Embedded P132 Series APU, featuring Zen 5 CPU cores, AMD RDNA 3.5 graphics, and an integrated AMD XDNA 2 NPU delivering more than 50 TOPS of AI performance. The AMD Versal AI Edge Series Gen 2 adaptive SoC, based on Arm CPUs and dedicated AI engines, manages sensor ingress, pre-processing, and AI inference.
Despite being a small motherboard, it still packs a wide range of connectivity and expansion options, including five native display outputs, dual 10Gb Ethernet, PCIe(R) Gen 4 expansion through M.2 and OCuLink, USB4, and multiple USB and audio interfaces. It is also available with a dedicated I/O daughter board (IOB) that expands connectivity and sensor support, suitable for industrial and automotive applications, which include 3x Quad GMSL2 C/D-PHY interfaces, enabling up to 12 cameras for advanced vision systems, 2x CAN-FD ports for CAN-FD implementation, and 2x mini DisplayPort outputs each connected to the Versal AI Edge Series device.
