Qualcomm announces Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy to power Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Series

Following the announcement of Samsung’s latest Galaxy S26 series smartphones, Qualcomm has unveiled its latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy SoC, an updated mobile system‑on‑a‑chip with custom-built 3rd generation Oryon CPU, Adreno 840 GPU, and Hexagon NPU.

Qualcomm is claiming the world’s fastest mobile system‑on‑a‑chip with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, promising “powerful on‑device agentic AI for more personalized and intuitive Galaxy experiences.” According to Qualcomm, two companies have collaborated closely to optimize the SoC for the latest Galaxy S26 series, with a focus on the latest Galaxy AI experiences.

While both Qualcomm and Samsung are not talking about specific specifications, Qualcomm did mention that it brings up to 19 percent higher CPU performance, 24 percent higher GPU performance, and up to 39 percent higher NPU performance.

Now, with the Galaxy S26 Series powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, we’re taking a bold leap into the future of intelligent, high-performance mobile experiences,” said Chris Patrick, senior vice president and general manager of mobile handsets, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “This platform is customized specifically for the Galaxy S26 Series, enabling top-tier performance and efficiency to redefine how users engage with their devices —from creative processes to productivity tasks—with greater speed, precision, and personalization.”

Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy will exclusively come with the Samsung Galaxy S26 series globally when it launches on March 11th.
