DDR5 prices finally dip

After months of the RAMpocalypse, the price of DDR5 kit has finally started to dip.

Prices started creeping up well before the DRAM shortage really bit, and the damage is still obvious worldwide. DDR5 kits have largely settled at four to five times their old levels, with some regions still nudging upwards.

Data gathered by the 3D Centre shows DDR5 retail prices in Germany dropping noticeably this month. March is the only month since July 2025 to show a clear decline, according to Gheizal’s tracking across several German retailers.

The line chart titled ‘DDR5 Memory: Retail Price Trend 2025/26 v3’ shows the overall price index peaking at 440 per cent in February. It then slips to 408 per cent in March, which is progress, even if it is the sort you need a microscope for.

Using July 2025 as the baseline, DDR5 pricing ticked up through the next two months before October delivered a 15.8 per cent jump. That average spans eight, 16, 24, 32 and 48GB kits across various speeds, because the market loves a good spread when it is charging you for it.

November piled on a staggering 49.5 per cent surge, and December pushed growth to 93 per cent. January added another 27.6 per cent, then February sat there smugly, keeping the index near that 440 per cent mark.

March brings a 7.2 per cent month-on-month dip, nudging the index down to 408 per cent. Some kits barely moved, but the 2x 32GB DDR5-6000 CL28 set reportedly dropped by almost 19 per cent in a single month.

Other 32GB and 16GB kits saw more modest cuts, which is nice if you enjoy being robbed slightly less. Last year’s pricing is still a distant memory, and the shortage is still calling the shots.
