Microsoft officially introduces new Surface Laptop Ultra with Nvidia RTX Spark

Microsoft has officially introduced the new Surface Laptop Ultra, its most powerful Surface device so far, built around Nvidia’s new RTX Spark platform. Announced alongside Computex 2026, the laptop is aimed at AI developers, creators, and power users looking for workstation-class performance in a relatively portable form factor.

The new Microsoft Laptop Ultra is built around a 15-inch mini-LED PixelSense Ultra touchscreen with a 2880×1920 resolution, 262 PPI density, and up to 2,000nits peak HDR brightness. The rest of the features include a large haptic touchpad, an improved cooling system with dual fans, USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, a full-size SD card reader, and a headphone jack for connectivity.

The heart of the device is Nvidia’s RTX Spark, which features a 20-core Arm CPU combined with a Blackwell-based GPU featuring 6,144 CUDA cores. The platform also supports up to 128 GB of unified LPDDR5X memory with up to 300GB/s of bandwidth, while NVIDIA claims up to 1 petaflop of AI compute performance.

Microsoft says the Surface Laptop Ultra is designed to handle large AI workloads locally, including models with up to 120B parameters, while also targeting demanding creative applications and gaming. The unified memory architecture dynamically shares memory between the CPU and GPU through NVLink C2C interconnect technology.

Microsoft has not yet confirmed pricing, but the Surface Laptop Ultra is coming in Platinum and Nightfall color options when it launches later this year.
