AMD’s 600-series motherboards are finally getting EXPO Ultra Low Latency support, after the feature first turned up for newer boards.
AMD introduced EXPO Ultra Low Latency, or ULL, at Computex to sharpen DDR5 memory tuning on its AM5 platform. Built on existing EXPO tech, ULL is supposed to bring automatic memory overclocking for users who do not fancy poking about in BIOS menus.
The chip outfit claims ULL can improve gaming performance by up to four per cent compared with non-ULL EXPO memory.
EXPO ULL initially launched for newer 800-series motherboards, despite being meant for both 600-series and 800-series models. After a few days of waiting, the feature is now heading to several 600-series motherboards, as spotted by @9550pro.
MSI appears to be first out of the gate, with fresh AGESA PI-1.3.0.1b BIOS releases adding ULL support. Release notes for the MEG X670E GODLIKE show that AMD EXPO ULL had already appeared in a previous BIOS released on 27 May.
The earlier release looked more like initial support, while the 8 June and 10 June BIOS updates brought more optimised support. Other 600-series boards began receiving AMD EXPO ULL support from 3 June.
Users can grab the latest BIOS updates from the support pages for their motherboards on the official vendor websites. Some Asus 600-series motherboards have now received similar updates with support for AMD’s new EXPO feature.
The supported Asus boards are mostly flagship and high-end X670E models, including ROG Crosshair and ROG Strix kit. With Beta BIOS 3803, users can try the ULL features, while the rest of the 600-series stack waits for its turn.
