Gamers hoping for a fresh GPU generation next year could be disappointed, with Nvidia Rubin and most AMD RDNA 5 hardware reportedly pushed to 2028.
According to AnandTech Forums the claim comes from hardware leaker Kepler_L2, who says AMD’s AT2 is the only new discrete GPU expected to arrive during 2027.
Asked whether plans were still pointing towards 2028 or later, Kepler_L2 replied: “Yeah, AT2 is the only GPU getting released next year. Everything else from both AMD and NVIDIA is 2028.”
If accurate, that would shove most of AMD’s RDNA 5 family and Nvidia’s Rubin-based GeForce generation into 2028. Kepler_L2 did not give individual product dates or say whether the roadmaps had recently changed.
The comment followed a claim that Nvidia had changed its mind and intended to launch an RTX 6090 during 2027. Kepler_L2’s response was that the claim was pants.
VideoCardz said it had heard nothing concrete from board partners about the upcoming products, suggesting no obvious partner-side development points to an imminent launch.
The RTX 50 SUPER refresh is another unknown. Some rumours claim Nvidia has cancelled the line entirely, while others suggest selected models could appear to fill the increasingly large hole before RTX 60 hardware arrives.
AMD’s RDNA 5 work is already visible in software development under its GFX13 designation. Reports have referred to AT0, AT2 and other configurations for months, although firm specifications remain absent.
Nvidia’s next gaming architecture is meanwhile expected to use GR20x Rubin silicon. Reported variants include GR202, GR203, GR205, GR206 and GR207, but final specifications and performance targets have yet to emerge.
If the rumour holds, AMD’s AT2 would stand largely alone among genuinely new discrete architectures during 2027. Intel’s BMG-G31 has been rumoured for that year, while an Xe3P product has been linked with 2028.
