Bambu Lab has teased its first 3D scanner, the S1, for a November launch, but has kept its specifications and price out of sight.
The company announced the device on 12 October 2026 with the slogan: “Create from your world. Start with a scan.” Buyers will start with far less information.
According to Tom’s Hardware, FCC filings and Bambu Lab’s partnership with scanner maker Scanology offer clues about the forthcoming hardware.
A label in the filings lists a 60W input, matching Scanology’s wired 3DeVOK MT Gen2 scanner, which combines blue and infrared lasers.
That matching power rating has prompted speculation about shared technology, although identical electricity requirements hardly constitute a family tree.
Drawings show a flat area near the top of the handle that could accommodate a screen. Bambu Lab has not confirmed that feature.
The label provides no obvious indication of a battery, prompting further speculation that the S1 could require a connected PC.
This setup could mean carrying a capable laptop while scanning or staying tethered to a desktop via a long USB cable.
The market extends beyond printing enthusiasts, with applications in game development, archaeology and prosthetics, though cleaning scans and preparing CAD models remains demanding work.
Scanology’s 3DeVOK MT Gen2 costs $8,299, making it an expensive comparison for anyone expecting consumer pricing. Bambu Lab has not yet disclosed the S1’s price.
